About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialicst, Environment Health & Safety to build and maintain a positive safety culture for L3Harris IMSA.

The Senior Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for managing, implementing and monitoring EH&S responsibilities for L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems Australia and it's facilities. 

The key responsibilities for this role will include, but not be limited to:

• Actively promote a positive safety culture and general awareness across all L3Harris IMSA sites
• Project managing all aspects of IMSA EHS responsibilities including communicating responsibilities to employees
• Develop and maintain EHS Management system in line with legislation and AS 4801/ ISO 45001
• Lead reporting of incidents and hazards both internal and external, lead incident investigations and coordinate corrective actions coming out of incident and hazard reports
• Provide support and guidance to personnel across all sites with EHS
• Collaborate with Chief Warden to ensure that Emergency Response Plans are established, implemented and periodically tested and
• Conduct internal EHS audits of projects and facilitate external audits to maintain certification requirements
• Convene Safety Committee meetings as scheduled, assign actions and follow-up on close out of actions
• Work in partnership with Human Resources to manage workplace injuries and return to work of employees injured at work or outside the workplace
• Coordinate hazard identification and workplace inspections with staff at all sites, create action lists and follow-up on action close
• Prepare all EHS reporting for corporate requirements and external party requirements.
• Prepare, track and analyses key performance indicators, lag indicators and put recommendations forward to improve EHS performance
• Develop and deliver relevant EHS training including the safety induction. Source external providers where required
• Perform regulatory reporting for environmental, health and safety as required by local, state, and federal authorities
• Ensure relevant roles within their department/function are aware of their responsibilities for complying with relevant QHSE Management System policies and procedures.
• Comply with relevant QHSE Management System policies and procedures.

About you

To be successful in this role, some skills & experience ideal applicants will bring include;

• Formal OHS/EHS qualifications/degree and/or significant practical experience in WHS (6+ years)
• Excellent understanding of relevant WHS legislation for all States where facilities are located
• Demonstrated communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Clearance to a NV1 level
