Job Description:

The Information Security Systems Engineering (ISSE) manages the cybersecurity postures of space vehicles and ground systems. The ISSE will apply current systems security engineering methods, practices and technologies to the architecture, design, development, evaluation and integration of systems and networks.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with customers to ensure that the security protection needs, concerns and requirements are defined and implemented.
  • Works with systems developers or commercial product vendors in the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art secure systems, networks, and database products using methods such as encryption technology, vulnerability analysis and security management.
  • Responsible for integration of multiple methods into a cohesive system security perimeter and environment.
  • Implements policies and procedures necessary to monitor and maintain environments.
  • Prepares Certification and Accreditation documentation, using multiple industry standards such as NIST 800-37, to achieve security authorization of supported systems.
  • Represents program security needs, concerns and requirements at customer meetings.
  • Detect, analyze, document, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities for space vehicles and ground systems
  • Present cybersecurity analyses, status, and plans to internal and external customers
  • Create, review, and revise technical documents
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a USG Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD 8140 certification (or NIST 800-181), appropriate for the position (IA SAE Level I) within 6 months of start

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of the technical areas supporting spacecraft design
    • Physics: Newton’s laws of motion, optics, heat flow
    • Electrical: voltage, current, resistance, AC/DC, batteries
    • Electronics: resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors
    • Computers: RAM, CPU, I/O, storage, operating systems
    • Mathematics: algebra, trigonometry, statistics
  • Existing cybersecurity certification satisfying IA SAE Level I (e.g., CASP CE, CISSP or Associate, CSSLP)
  • Existing USG Secret or TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience in engineering or other technical discipline
  • Software development experience
  • Experience with network architecture and diagramming
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Experience using scripting languages such as Bash/Shell, Python, Perl, PowerShell
  • Experience in robotics
  • Experience with cloud computing services
  • Experience performing vehicle design
