Job Description:
We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to apply practical cybersecurity expertise while working under the guidance of the ISSM. This role partners closely with Information System Owners, system engineers, program management, and engineering teams to maintain compliance with government information security frameworks. The Senior Associate, ISSO will safeguard information systems and manage the day-to-day security operations for multiple assigned systems.
Essential Functions:
- Author and maintain Body of Evidence (BOE) artifacts in support of Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities for assigned systems in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Perform security control assessments.
- Oversee and audit information system configuration management.
- Work with IT to develop and implement device and system hardening guides following DISA and NIST guidelines.
- Conduct periodic hardware/software inventory assessments.
- Conduct continuous monitoring activities on assigned information systems.
- Identify and remediate security control deficiencies.
- Use tools such as SCAP Compliance Checker or EvaluateSTIG to review DISA STIGS.
- Interpret vulnerability scanning results (Nessus, ACAS, etc.).
- Assist the ISSM as necessary in meeting their duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain.
- Minimum DoD 8570 Baseline Certification IAM Level I (i.e. Security+ CE) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
- Experience developing, managing, and providing evidence to close POA&Ms associated with the A&A and project management processes.
- Experience with Microsoft and Linux based operating systems.
- Experience using Splunk to review workstations and server logs.
- Experience with DAAPM/DAAG and NISPOM regulatory environment.
- Experience with SharePoint content creation and management.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Strong time management skills.
- High level of personal motivation to acquire new skills.
