Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Hardware Cleaning Technician to perform cleanings and visual inspections of space-flight hardware and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have strong manual dexterity and a sharp eye for detail. This role requires the ability to interpret work instructions, technical drawings, use precision measurement tools, cleaning solvents and lift components weighing up to 32 pounds. Desirable attributes include knowledge of foreign object debris (FOD) control, and a willingness to work independently or interact as part of a multi-functional team. Candidate should have an ability to identify contamination control-related improvements in materials and develop cleanliness procedures as required. Support when appropriate, internal or external failure investigations and audits related to contamination. This position necessitates a high level of attention to detail and the ability to perform routine tasks efficiently.
Essential Functions:
- Perform cleanings of space-flight hardware and assemblies.
- Perform detailed inspections of space-flight hardware and assemblies.
- Measure critical dimensions using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Perform in-process photo documentation.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions to validate inspection criteria.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately; complete final inspection reports as required.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to communicate quality issues and support root cause investigations.
- Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is current.
- Support cleaning operations as needed.
- Role may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Work performed in a cleanroom, climate-controlled inspection area.
- Handle and dispose of cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite familiarization.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise and accurate inspections.
- Proficient in using precision hand tools and optical inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
