Job Description:
This is a hands-on test operations leadership position supporting aerospace integration and test activities across submodule, module, instrument, and/or space vehicle test operations. The candidate in this role will provide front-line leadership for technician execution while also supporting technical test engineering responsibilities as needed. This role is primarily focused on afternoon/night shift and 24/7 test operations where additional direct leadership coverage is required; however, the candidate must remain flexible to support day-shift activities, weekends, overtime, travel, and schedule changes based on workload, staffing, and business needs. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 25%, as required, to support customer product testing.
Essential Functions:
- Drive compliance to safety, quality, test, and program requirements.
- Provide front-line leadership, supervision, coaching, and mentorship for approximately 15–20 engineering technicians supporting integration and test operations.
- Support daily test execution, technician coordination, schedule adherence, troubleshooting, issue escalation, and execution continuity across shifts.
- Support technical test engineering activities as needed, including test planning, procedure development/execution, data review, requirements verification, and coordination with engineering teams.
- Work closely with test engineers, manufacturing, chamber operations, program teams, customers, and support organizations to resolve issues and maintain execution flow.
- Support development and compliance to test processes, standard work, procedures, and work instructions.
- Support nonconformance documentation, troubleshooting activity, root cause/corrective action, and disposition coordination as required.
- Lead department initiatives to improve safety, quality, execution, standard work, and employee engagement.
- Conduct 1-on-1 career counseling, performance discussions, and mid-year/year-end performance reviews for assigned employees.
- Work with Human Resources to support employee relations and corrective action measures.
- Support non-standard work schedules, including afternoon/night shift coverage, weekends, overtime, travel, and 24/7 test operations as business needs require.
- Role may involve extended periods of sitting or standing, and work may be performed in cleanroom, laboratory, production floor, or test environments.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in aerospace integration, test, manufacturing, production operations, or other high-reliability technical environments.
- Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating technicians, operators, engineers, or cross-functional work teams.
- Experience supporting space-qualified hardware, flight hardware, or other high-reliability products.
- Technical test experience, including troubleshooting, data review, requirements verification, procedure discipline, and coordination with engineering teams.
- Familiarity with cleanroom operations, ESD safeguards, contamination control, and controlled test/manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with hands-on electrical, mechanical, integration, or test operations, including bench-top test equipment, hand tools, torque tools, measurement tools, and specialized test equipment.
- Experience using Microsoft applications
