Job Description:

The Field Engineering Systems Specialist performs a wide variety of maintenance on avionics, airborne networks, aircraft servicing, inspections, troubleshooting and repair of all aircraft systems in accordance with applicable technical data. Tows and positions aircraft.  Fly with the aircraft to provide off station maintenance support, removes and installs aircraft avionics, hydraulic components, landing gear, tires, and struts.  Performs engine removals and installations.  Checks for work correctness. Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommends corrective action in accordance with applicable aircraft maintenance manuals. Also maintains, repairs, tests and/or calibrates various types of aircraft electronic equipment and related devices such as transmitters, amplifiers, receivers, RF distribution equipment, computer controllers, and workstations on operational aircraft. Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles and strong knowledge in troubleshooting techniques to determine mission equipment/network malfunctions and restore aircraft mission systems to full operational status. Interfaces with Test and System engineers. Installs and maintains modifications to the aircraft and advises operations and maintenance personnel on their use. Implements preventive maintenance programs, documents performance and maintenance records on aircraft and equipment. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Position requires daily interface with customers at numerous levels.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both CONUS and OCONUS
  • Willingness and ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours and/or overtime to meet company objectives.  
  • Position will include lifting, bending, and climbing.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain a TS/SCI, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to maintain flight status requirements.
  • Ability to obtain an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Ability to pass FAA Class III flight physical and complete altitude chamber training.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Boeing 737 / C40 experience very desirable.
  • Boeing Aircraft / CFM56 experience very desirable
  • Ability to use a wide variety of technical data from OEM manuals to engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work alone or within a group.
