Job Description:
The Field Engineering (FE) Specialist is responsible for operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the complete spectrum of avionics systems and proprietary communication systems incorporated in aircraft. The FE maintains, repairs, tests and/or calibrates various types of aircraft electronic equipment and related devices such as transmitters, amplifiers, receivers, RF distribution equipment, computer controllers, and workstations on operational aircraft
Essential Functions:
- Apply technical knowledge of electronic principles and strong knowledge in troubleshooting techniques to determine mission equipment malfunctions and restore aircraft mission systems to full operational status.
- Install and maintain Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) modifications to the aircraft and advise operations and maintenance personnel on their use.
- Fly with the aircraft to provide off-station maintenance support.
- Perform work in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
- Position requires daily interface with customers at numerous levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
- Willingness and ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours and/or overtime to meet company objectives.
- Position will include lifting, bending, and climbing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of maintenance experience with avionics, airborne networks, and/or aircraft systems.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of maintenance experience with avionics, airborne networks, and/or aircraft systems.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of eight (8) years of maintenance experience with avionics, airborne networks, and/or aircraft systems.
- Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance at the time of hire with the ability to maintain a Top-Secret with SCI.
- Ability to obtain and maintain flight status requirements.
- Must successfully pass FAA Class III flight physical and complete altitude chamber training.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top-Secret with SCI.
- Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
