Title: Lead Business Development

Job Description: L3Harris currently has an opening in the Business Development organization in our Fall River, Ma location. A successful candidate is responsible for developing business in the maritime undersea market space. The new hire will reinforce, establish and grow customer relationships, identify and shape pursuits, assist with developing capture strategy, and provide effective internal and external communications regarding pursuits.
The perfect candidate may have subject matter expertise in unmanned undersea systems with comprehensive operational and/or technical knowledge and in-depth knowledge of business development, including a working knowledge of experience with the Shipley Capture management process. The candidate will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight and direction, communicate within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches, make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products, provide input into new products/processes, and implement operational plans and strategies that have measurable impact on the business or functional outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and executes an effective plan and strategy for increasing orders, bookings and opportunity captures
- Develops and reinforces strong relationships with current and potential new customers to facilitate ongoing and new business opportunities
- Coordinates and manages new business capture through the complete business development cycle from planning, targeting and gathering through proposing and eventual closure
- Provides proficient knowledge of our products, product applications, systems and solutions to peers, partners and potential customers that develop potential new business opportunities
- Develops bid & win strategies and PTW (price-to-win) for selected pursuits
- Determines current demand for products and services for both the company and its competitors including future product feature-set direction & roadmaps
- Assembles an effective team that produces a winning proposal
- Coordinates preparation of compelling opportunity reviews to internal leadership for approval
- Evaluates market and competitive conditions and develop competitive assessments
- Develops business forecasts for customer, market and product lines
- Demonstrates an ability to assess customer influence within customer organizations
- Provides the voice of the customer back to the business
- Travels as required to support opportunity identification and pursuit efforts, generate briefing materials as they pertain to customer's interests/needs, Present briefings at customer or L3H locations as needed
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical field (BSEE or BSME preferred), or equivalent with a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, MBA a plus, Maritime experience a plus
Skills, Knowledge, Certifications and Conditions
· Strong working knowledge of and experience with common capture processes, including the Shipley capture management process.
· Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills.
· Must be available to travel up to 30% of the year.
· Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, Microsoft Office package (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access), and Microsoft Project
· Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, and most importantly, promote collaboration among the team by listening intently to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate, and allowing others to speak without interruption.
