Job Description:

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities and factory support of existing AUV products.
  • Translate product requirements into mechanical specifications and test plans for development.
  • Execute verification testing as defined by the mechanical specifications and test plans.
  • Conduct design analysis and testing, both structural and thermal, to ensure designs meet customer requirements.
  • Understand customer needs, generate test procedures, and execute the tests.
  • Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECOs) as required.
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation using Siemens NX and SolidWorks CAD programs.

 

Sustainment Engineering

 

  • Coordinate the installation, design, modification, maintenance, and repair of AUV structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment installations.
  • Apply basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with an understanding of structural analysis for integrated system design.
  • Support the transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly, and installation of designed products.
  • Apply principles supporting the life cycle maintenance of AUVs (repair, rework, and designing replacement parts).
  • Opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and systems on various AUV platforms.

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Siemens NX and SolidWorks CAD programs.
  • Exposure to analysis (FEA) tools, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, and mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, and/or automation and software programming for numerical analysis.
  • Ability to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
  • Ability to generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of one programming language.
  • Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $25.00 - $47.50. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $22.00 - $40.50. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
