L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Field Technician to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) within the Field Services organization. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test communications and network systems at FAA sites throughout the ZJX airspace region. You will provide hands-on technical support for programs including FTI, ADS-B, DCNS, and other Field Services Group efforts.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and supporting critical infrastructure that helps keep aviation systems operating safely and reliably. The technician will travel to local FAA facilities, diagnose equipment or network issues, replace or repair components, perform testing, and ensure systems are restored to full operational status. This role also requires working closely with supervisors, customers, and program teams while following all company and contract-specific procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair voice, data, network, fiber, and power-related equipment at FAA facilities.
- Support operational systems tied to FAA contracts such as FTI, ADS-B, DCNS, and other Field Services programs.
- Perform onsite testing and diagnostics of circuits, network connections, and communications equipment using standard test equipment and Bell Core testing standards.
- Work with copper and fiber cabling, including termination, connector replacement, and cable troubleshooting.
- Configure and support IP-based equipment, including routers and switches.
- Install equipment racks and associated hardware in a variety of environments, including wall-mounted, raised floor, and concrete-based installations.
- Conduct AC/DC power testing, including 3-phase AC, and work with 24VDC and 48VDC power supplies.
- Travel to FAA site locations within approximately a 3-hour drive of Hilliard, FL.
- Lift items up to 32 pounds and use ladders or step stools to access equipment located up to approximately 10 feet high.
- Coordinate with the Area Service Lead (ASL) and follow all L3Harris and program-specific policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a FAA Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Industry certifications such as Network+, A+, CCNA, CCNP, or CCNA Wireless.
- Experience working independently in the field and managing service calls with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work from home while in an on-call status.
- Willingness and ability to work outside normal business hours, including responding to after-hours emergency service calls.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, high-visibility environments.
