Job Description:

  • Responsible for successfully leading a projct team to meet business requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in a growing business area.
  • Develop, oversee, and coordinate the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and stakeholders.
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses engineering issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Identifies, tracks, mitigates, manages, and dispositions program-level risks.
  • Develops, monitors, and statuses detailed MS Project schedules.
  • Uses Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reports to manage project performance.
  • Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.

  
Essential Functions: 

  • Experience with sustainment, operations, design and development of ground-based space systems.
  • Interface with Engineering Group Leaders and Managers, as well as Program Management, Capture Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance.   


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • Experience with best practices for project engineering, EVMS, and program execution.
  • Experience in complex, multi-discipline programs including but not limited to optical, space operations, mechanical, electrical, systems, and/or software engineering with a background in space systems .
  • Experience managing projects with budgets of $10M+.
  • Experience with Technical Supplier Management, Risk and Opportunity Management.
  • Experience implementing and adapting project execution plans that achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Experience presenting to internal and external customers at all levels


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Secret or ability to obtain at least a Secret clearance preferred
  • Experience leading Government Contract development programs preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of Government contract acquisition lifecycle a plus.
  • Experience with management of design to cost activities a plus.
  • Experience with program pursuit and proposal activities.
  • Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action process and techniques.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined team of engineers.
