Job Description:  

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced technical training developer to develop instruction on the operation and maintenance of computer-based satellite monitor and control systems at customer sites. The Technical Training Developer position supports the 8th Combat Training Squadron (8CTS) and 8th Combat Training Flights (8CTF) with training development on the WSOTS II program. This position will coordinate with the 8CTS/8CTFs on course development for Space Force guardians and employees of the 53rd Space Operations Squadron (53SOPS). The area of training responsibility includes MILSATCOM Satellite Control, Operations and Procedures on Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellite mission subsystems.  Must understand Common Network Planning Software (CNPS) to assist with developing training for new network planners. Also responsible for developing and maintaining documentation relating to those specific training programs. Works on problems exercising judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Assists the 8CTS in making and approving training decisions.

 

Essential Functions: 

The Technical Trainer Senior Specialist duties include but are not limited to:

  • Researches, develops, and maintains training course materials and documentation. Directs the activities of technical editors, graphics editors and support staff during technical review of training material development.
  • Utilize Understanding of the following concepts:
    • WGS Fundamentals
    • Space Vehicle Operator
    • Orbital Mechanics
    • Space Navigation
  • Interfaces with customers and L3Harris field staff to ensure training requirements and instructional materials are current and complete.
  • Compiles and analyzes student test data and course results to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, and to adjust training task selection, objectives, instructional techniques to best meet customer training needs.
  • Recommends modifications to training programs where appropriate.
  • Supports 8CTS as required by maintaining up-to-date instructional material based on operational requirements.
  • Develops and updates as-needed training materials for Space Force Satellite Control training.
  • Conducts classroom training for guardians.  10%-20% Business travel may be required annually.
  • Maintains knowledge of satellite control operations and procedures.
  • Maintains an issue knowledge base to document specific training issues related to the course.

Qualifications:

  • Active TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must understand Common Network Planning Software (CNPS) to assist with developing training for new network planners.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to travel 10% - 20% annually.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with military Satellite Communications systems monitoring and control systems equipment.
  • Experience with satellite configuration and control systems software.
  • Familiar with the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) accreditation standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to operate personal computer, printers, scientific calculator, copy machine and other general office equipment.
  • Experience with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) process that supports institutional training, structured self-development and distributed learning.
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Possess excellent technical skills to understand and translate information into presentable instructional material.
  • Understand International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) policies and procedures.
  • Related experience consists of SATCOM and instructional experience in a military environment (eight years’ experience preferred).

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $71,500- $132,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
