Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a dynamic Software Engineer who is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining space command and control (C2) systems software. The Software Engineer will work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and assess software interfaces, operational performance requirements, and overall system design. The ideal candidate should have experience with the full software development lifecycle. This position is on-site in Colorado Springs, CO.

Essential Functions: 

• Working under general oversight, participating in all phases of the software development life cycle, creating software test procedures, developing software programs, preparing related documentation, conducting peer reviews, identifying, tracking, and resolving software defects
• Clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
• Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
• May manage large projects or processes that are both inside and outside of immediate job area
• Communicates within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization
• Work consists of making moderate to substantial enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area
• Develop software as a Java full stack engineer

• Ability to obtain a Security+ Certification in less than 60 days

• Ability to obtain a US TS/SCI security clearance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
• Active US Secret security clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

• 4 years of experience in software development with a focus on Java full stack development
• Knowledgeable in the full software development lifecycle from requirements elicitation to deployment
• Experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Experience with Cloud Native Technologies (microservices, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, etc.)
• Experience developing and deploying software using a CI/CD pipeline
• Experience with Agile software development and the software development lifecycle
• Experience utilizing team collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira, GitLab)
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Experience with Apache NiFi
• Experience with RabbitMQ message broker
• Experience with Apache Kafka

• Experience developing software in Java using Spring Boot framework
• Experience developing software in C/C++ or Python
• Experience with relational databases
• Understanding of SDA mission data sets

• Knowledge of asynchronous programming

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado Springs is $97,000.00 - $180,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
