L3Harris Technologies Space and Airborne Systems has an opening for a Lead, Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will support our customer and the United States Space Force for GPS On-orbit operations at Schriever Space Force Base. The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions: 

  • Liaison to customer for GPS on-orbit operational support and lead troubleshooting efforts when issues or anomalies are encountered
  • GPS Operations support to Space Force 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2SOPS), specializing in navigation payload
  • Able and comfortable reviewing and analyzing GPS performance data, contributing to reviewing, and writing various technical data, documentation, and requirements
  • Test planning and execution of the Modernized Telecom Simulator (MTS) 
  • Able to travel to support Mission Operation Exercises and equivalent test events to provide on call and/or as required support as various U.S. Government installations, including Vandenberg AFB and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
  • Provides extensive systems engineering expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical space-based and airborne aerospace products
  • Uses the application of systems engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques  
  • Specifies, architects, analyzes, models, establishes flow downs and verifies designs, tests and verifies complex engineering tasks in electrical, mechanical, optical, software, systems, and/or hardware components
  • Presents design analysis to Design Review Boards
  • Prepares progress reports relating to assignments
  • Participates in, and may lead proposal teams

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Professional GPS system knowledge, ideally with Blocks IIF, IIR, and III
  • 5+ years experience with position, navigation, and timing (PNT) support
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: signal processing, satellite systems
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: sensors calibration, software, mechanical systems, electrical systems, precision mechanisms/control systems, secure systems, RF
  • Experience using MATLAB and modeling simulation tools
  • Proficient with DOORSTM
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work closely with other disciplines
  • Experience with Requirements flow down/requirement allocation/requirement tracking
  • Experience in risk management
  • Experience with project management

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $125,000.00 - $232,000.00. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is 108,500.00- $201,500.00 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
