Job Description:
Supervises bargaining unit represented team members. Communicates with parties inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures. Makes improvements to processes, systems, and solutions to enhance performance of the job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are general and require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems may require understanding of other job areas and are typically solved drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issues. Plans and establishes operational objectives for the team with significant impact on department results. Leads, directs and reviews the work of direct report(s) to maintain workflow and productivity and ensure weekly objectives are achieved. Understands basic management approaches and has proficient knowledge of job area.
- Responsible for planning, controlling and managing activities related to inventory control, stockroom/shipping/receiving, storing and traffic analysis of materials or finished goods, to meet production requirements and contractual obligations. Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures.
- Analyzes inventory levels, inventory positioning, planned production and schedules. Oversees the liquidation and transfer of stock to reflect cost, age, and demand. Initiates immediate actions in out-of-stock situations.
- Ensures materials are received, delivered to inventory.
- Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per master schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities of Stockroom bargaining unit represented employees in accordance with the organization's policies, bargaining unit contract and applicable laws.
- Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices.
- Develop weekly manning plan, including temporary labor requests, per production/shipping schedule. As well as scheduling overtime and vacations in the department.
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance in accordance with company policy.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production/material schedules and deadlines.
- Recommend measures to improve material handling methods, equipment performance, and quality of service.
- Manage the stockroom kitting and receiving process. Ensure employees are trained and following the process according to the guidelines set forth.
- Responsible for managing the packaging of all materials and preparing required department documentation.
- Converse with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities of the department.
- Coordinates efforts of inventory process to ensure transactions are accurate and ensure that the needs of the customers and internal departments are met in a timely manner.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with personnel which must include safety talks.
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle count efforts.
- Evaluate and present departmental and company performance results.
- Develop and maintain procedural manuals for all material handling personnel.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring qualified employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work. Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Coach and counsel employees with performance concerns and/or commend excellent performance which includes safety, quality, standardized work, and 5S+1.
- Ensure new employees have been properly trained in their position which must include the safety standards.
- Perform regular workplace safety inspections and correct unsafe acts or conditions which may include progressive discipline, notifying EHS, and placing work orders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Stockroom environment
- Experience managing bargaining unit represented employees.
- Ability to work in or learn the following: MRP systems, cycle counts, kit pulls, shop order completion, perform basic physical inspections, audit support, the ability to handle critical parts and material according to procedure and protocols, process incoming receipts, transfers, returns, scrap etc. as per procedure
- Understands basic supervisory approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, and process execution. Typically requires broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within assigned discipline.
