Job Description:

The Tactical Communications SW engineering group is looking for highly motivated individuals to expand its team of embedded waveform SW engineers to work on a collection of modern tactical military radios for DoD and Allied market space.  These radios can be either single or multi-channel and support multiple modern mobile ad-hoc networking or line-of-sight waveforms.  The candidate will work in a team environment; lead, design, and develop software components required to implement networking and waveform features on software defined radios.  The candidate will participate in an Agile software development environment and be responsible for all aspects of software development and test. Work consists of making significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of job area. The candidate will provide input into new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business results.

Essential Functions:

  • Member of an Agile Scrum team that develops SW for advanced tactical radio equipment
  • Responsible for research, design, and development of embedded software for software defined radio products.     
  • Deliver the assigned portion of the entire product development cycle in an Agile Scrum environment including system/software requirements analysis, high level and detailed design, implementation, testing, integration, and documentation
  • Determine design approaches and parameters. Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate results. 
  • Perform detailed analysis including: requirements analysis, use case scenarios, conceptual design, trade studies, test, operation, maintenance, and reliability analysis of radio communications products, internal subsystems, and external systems. 
  • Perform the functional analysis, requirements allocation and technical interface definition to translate customer requirements into software development specifications for the radio and associated subsystems. 
  • Develop block diagrams and interface design specifications. 
  • Work with product design, test, manufacturing, logistics engineering teams, product and program management and other groups, and external customers as needed to define and execute radio product development projects and deliver high-quality radio products.
  • Prepare design and implementation reviews and oversee the configuration management and control of requirements and design documentation, and development software.  Present technical briefings and status reviews.
  • Ensure the conversion of customer requirements, including informal requirements, into total systems solutions that balance the technical, schedule and cost constraints of the program. 
  • Consult with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
  • Develop software system testing procedures and design documentation.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to convey technical matters in a clear and logical manner
  • Executes software development process in a CMMI Level 3 environment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance 

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering discipline with a minimum 6 years of relevant experience developing real-time embedded software in C or C++. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years prior related experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior experience developing real-time embedded software in C or C++.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 6+ years experience developing and testing software developed in C++ in Linux or other POSIX environment or on Real Time Operating Systems for Digital Signal Processors .
  • 6+ years experience with OOA/OOD software development methodology. 
  • 6+ years experience in full development lifecycle for software projects. 
  • 6+ years of experience producing software development documents, such as design documents and test plans. 
  • Knowledge in software development for Linux based embedded platforms
  • Knowledge of Networking software development.   
  • Experience in tactical communications
  • Experience developing software for software defined radios
  • JTRS SCA software development experience
  • Experience with embedded software development on Digital Signal Processors
  • Experience with digital filter design

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $109,500 - $203,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
