Job Description:
The Software Quality Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and control of a Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure that delivered products meet all required corporate and contract standards and specifications. The Quality Engineer protects the customer to ensure product quality and contract requirements are met. This includes ensuring/verifying the quality of product inputs and outputs. A successful Quality Engineer should have excellent analysis skills and communication skills to work with customers, leadership, engineers and peers in a variety of work engagements.
Essential Functions:
- Lead or support continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as root cause analysis, Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), 8D, 5S, Kaizen, lean methods, Six Sigma, etc.
- Provide quality support to development teams on software, systems, hardware and aeronautical engineering programs to facilitate proper implementation of product and process policies, methods, and operating practices.
- Leverage investigative & problem-solving tools, techniques and methods to identify corrective and preventive action opportunities and drive continual improvement.
- Perform quality audits and assessments to assure compliance with customer, company, and regulatory requirements in support of CMMI, AS9100 and the Quality Management System.
- Monitor and report audit findings and determine proper corrective and preventive actions with the process owner and leadership.
- Attend Agile team meetings and observe Agile practices to ensure compliance with defined company processes and industry practices for SAFE, DEVOPS and LeanAgile.
- Witness product verification and validation procedures including systems, software and aeronautical engineering per documented test procedures and criteria.
- Frequent contact with internal and external customers at various levels and participation in meetings and activities.
- Occasional night and/or weekend work may be required. Occasional weekend on-call duty is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance / quality control concepts, tools and methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with lean methodologies such as; 8D, Six Sigma/Lean Green Belt, Kaizen, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing for reporting or process purposes.
- Demonstrated experience engaging internal and/or external customers at various levels.
- Demonstrated Agile, SAFe and Lean Agile process experience a plus.
- Experience in engineering, or aviation industry a plus.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey area is $73,000.00 - $136,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
