Job Description:

The position will perform the roles and responsibilities of a Lead, Systems Engineering (Level 5), supporting programs across the Electronic Warfare (EW) Division in the Advanced Combat Systems (ACS) Sector.  The Systems Engineering Lead must be experienced in leading technical teams and solving complex problems in the following areas of expertise:

  • Threat Analysis
  • System Modeling and Simulation
  • Cloud Processing and Network EW Applications
  • Experience with Electronic System Design and leading the HW/SW/FW development efforts for EW or ELINT applications.

The Systems Engineering Lead will define and drive organizational level solutions in the areas identified above. The position will also support program level execution across the ACS business areas.  Up to 10% travel may be required.


Essential Functions:

The Lead Systems Engineer will perform functions across the following areas (not all the functions are relatable to a single position, multiple positions are being opened to cover the necessary areas of expertise):

Threat Analyst Functions:

  • Analyze electronic signals and data to identify potential threats from enemy radar, communications, and electronic attack systems.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in EW and related fields.
  • Evaluate the capabilities and intentions of adversaries in the electromagnetic spectrum.
  • Use signal processing tools and techniques to extract and interpret relevant information from raw data.
  • Develop and maintain databases of known threats and associated electronic signatures.
  • Participate in the development of new EW technologies and techniques to counter emerging threats.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of EW systems and equipment to ensure effectiveness against identified threats.
  • Recommend improvements and updates to existing systems based on analysis and testing results.

System Modeling and Simulation Lead Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and oversee the overall EW Modeling and Simulation strategy for Systems Engineering (SE) across the Advanced Combat Systems (ACS) Sector.
  • Coach and mentor SE staff in EW Modeling and Simulation.
  • Develop, execute, evaluate, and recommend hardware, software, and test equipment solutions for EW Threat Simulation, considering both internal and external sources.
  • Represent ACS internally and externally through Responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), attending Working Group meetings, presenting at Industry Conferences, and conducting training efforts.
  • Support and contribute to ACS Digital Engineering initiatives by collaborating with other functional disciplines and specialty groups, such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Mission Analysis.
  • Develop and run MATLAB simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various EW environments.
  • Maintain current and legacy ACS EW Modeling tools.

Cloud Processing and Networked EW Functions:

  • Leverage cloud computing power to analyze complex EW data and run intensive signal processing algorithms.
  • Use networked EW capabilities to monitor and manage the electromagnetic spectrum dynamically.
  • Scale resources up or down based on the operational needs and volume of data.
  • Process and analyze data in real-time to detect and respond to electronic threats promptly.
  • Utilize low-latency cloud environments to ensure timely decision-making.
  • Implement machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify patterns, predict threats, and automate responses.
  • Use cloud-based AI platforms to continuously train and improve models based on new data.
  • Implement networked C2 systems to coordinate EW operations and decision-making.
  • Share threat data and intelligence across the network to build a more comprehensive threat picture.
  • Fuse data from multiple sources to enhance the accuracy and reliability of threat assessments.

System Design Lead Functions:

  • Leads requirements definition, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems embracing agile product systems and software development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality
  • Leads the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test and verification & validation in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environment.
  • Works with Program Managers and SE Program Leads to perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects.
  • Develops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies.
  • Formulates and presents results during internal and external program meetings.
  • Participate in proposal activities by approving both cost and technical estimates.


Qualifications:

  • Active DoD secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Technical Expertise one of more of the following areas:
    • Threat Analysis
    • System Modeling and Simulation
    • Cloud Processing and Network EW Applications
    • Experience with Electronic System Design and leading

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • TS/SCI or the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Competency making decisions with imperfect and incomplete information.
  • Experience with requirements management, and requirements management tools.
  • System-level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration and test of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces.
  • Multi-domain knowledge, in particular systems, software, and firmware.
  • Experience with integration and test planning, cost estimating.
  • Experience with Labview, Python and Matlab.
  • Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products.
  • Experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead.
  • Experience leading a team to complete assigned program tasking.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $125,000 - $232,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
