Job Description:
We are seeking a Platform / DevSecOps Engineering Lead to define, implement, and sustain the software delivery platform that supports mission-critical software development in a regulated environment. This role combines strong technical depth with execution leadership and is ideal for a candidate who can both deliver hands-on platform solutions and grow into a broader technical leadership role within the software organization.
The selected candidate will serve as a key leader for software delivery infrastructure and engineering workflow modernization, helping shape the strategy, roadmap, standards, and execution of DevSecOps capabilities across the directorate. This individual will be expected to drive alignment across software, firmware, systems, integration, IT administration, and cybersecurity stakeholders; establish scalable and disciplined development workflows; and lead continuous improvement efforts that increase engineering velocity, quality, security, and traceability.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in software build systems, automation, C++ development workflows, and modern DevSecOps practices, along with the leadership presence to influence technical direction, lead through execution, and establish trusted partnerships across the organization.
Essential Functions:
· Lead the design, implementation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines supporting software build, test, analysis, packaging, and release workflows.
· Own execution of software delivery platform capabilities, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned to program and organizational needs.
· Develop and sustain automation for software delivery processes, including source control triggers, build orchestration, test execution, artifact publication, promotion workflows, and release traceability.
· Support test workflows executed under simulation in CI pipelines and on-the-hardware in CD pipelines, including workflows that require coordination across both software and firmware development activities.
· Build and maintain reusable pipeline templates, scripts, and automation components to improve consistency, reliability, governance, and developer efficiency across teams.
· Support and optimize C++ software build environments, including compiler toolchains, build systems, dependency management, and cross-platform build execution.
· Integrate automated testing, static analysis, software composition analysis, code coverage, and other quality and security controls into the development workflow.
· Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code solutions to support repeatable, scalable, and auditable platform deployment and sustainment.
· Partner with software and firmware engineers to improve developer workflows, reduce build and test cycle time, and increase automation, standardization, and self-service capabilities.
· Collaborate with systems/tool administrators, IT, and cybersecurity stakeholders to define platform requirements for build agents, runners, repositories, secrets, access controls, and supporting infrastructure.
· Support artifact repository, package management, and dependency workflows, including versioning, retention, promotion, provenance, and reproducibility considerations.
· Ensure software tool versions are synchronized between low-side and high-side environments and that delivery workflows remain controlled and repeatable across security boundaries.
· Ensure pipeline artifacts are clearly defined, governed, and stored in Artifactory, with traceable origins for binaries, configuration files, evidence of test, and evidence of origin, including SBOMs where applicable.
· Continuously collaborate with cybersecurity to identify, assess, and manage risks throughout the development lifecycle and to embed security controls into delivery workflows.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pipelines, build systems, tool integrations, dependency resolution, automation scripts, and release workflows, while driving root-cause corrective actions and long-term platform improvements.
· Contribute to platform reliability, maintainability, and observability through metrics, dashboards, logging, and operational discipline.
· Produce clear technical documentation for pipeline design, automation workflows, platform standards, and user guidance.
· Provide technical leadership in DevSecOps and platform engineering practices, helping establish standards, implementation priorities, and a practical roadmap for engineering workflow maturity across the organization.
· Influence adoption of common tools, processes, and engineering best practices across teams through strong collaboration, communication, and execution.
