Job Description:

This position supports strategic programs essential to maintaining U.S. Armed Forces’ readiness.  The successful Controls Engineer will contribute as a member of the manufacturing engineering team by designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control production equipment and processes.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing equipment controls.
  • Develop equipment safety and technical specifications.
  • PLC programming.
  • Trap, identify, and correct equipment controls intermittent problems.
  • Legacy equipment upgrades.
  • Develop interface systems for internal operations.
  • Support knowledge base systems and information sharing.
  • Backup old and new equipment to a central server.
  • Vision system programming.
  • Robot troubleshooting and programming.
  • Assist in automating processes to save time and project cost.
  • Review and update operational processes.
  • Plan, advise, and implement effective systems to boost manufacturing.
  • Interface with equipment vendors and specify equipment through writing Statement of Requirements documents.
  • Prepare capital equipment requests.
  • Prepare estimates for proposal responses.
  • Travel can be up to 10%.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Prior experience integrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting control systems in a production environment.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • 7+ years of work experience related to support and implementation of equipment and control systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on experience with Allen Bradley hardware, Rockwell software, and Keyence vision systems.
