Job Description:
This Electrical Engineering position is in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring tasking flexibility to meet ever changing customer objectives. It will require the ability to work within a team structure as well as work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial.
Essential Functions:
- Design analog and digital circuits for safety and arming devices.
- Generate schematics and PCB layout guidelines.
- Perform circuit analyses (WCCA, electrical stress, FMECA, fault tree, etc.) and simulations (LTSpice, Pspice, etc.).
- Participate in team and department meetings, internal design reviews, peer and gate reviews.
- Assist with requirements development and compliance assessments.
- Generate firmware requirements for FPGAs and microcontrollers.
- Define test methods and develop test plans and test equipment requirements.
- Support or direct test activities in all phases of product development.
- Support hardware builds by testing and troubleshooting failures.
- Create and maintain engineering technical drawings and documentation.
- Author test plans and reports related to product performance and safety.
- Lead or assist formal failure investigations using structured tools (8D, Fishbone, Cause & Effect, etc.).
- Provide technical support for legacy production programs.
- Help mentor co-ops and less-experienced engineers.
- Multi-task across several projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
- BSEE/CompE + 4 years of related experience, MSEE/CompE + 2 years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
- 3+ years of experience designing analog circuits utilizing op amps, comparators, filters, differential amplifiers, data converters, etc.
- 3+ years of experience designing digital circuits utilizing logic gates, flip flops, counters, multiplexers, timers, etc.
- 2+ years of experience with board-level power architecture design, power conditioning and power conversion using linear and switching topologies.
- 2+ years of experience with interface circuits and serial communication buses including UART, SPI, and I2C.
- 2+ years of experience with various sensor types (temperature sensors, acceleromters, differential pressure sensors, gyroscopes, etc.).
- 2+ years of experience with circuit protection techniques (e.g. overvoltage, reverse voltage, short circuit, ESD, EMI, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience with module design including component selection, circuit design and analysis, and board layout.
- 3+ years of experience with schematic capture and board layout utilities (Altium, PADS, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, meters, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience with modeling and simulation utilities (LTSpice, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience in creating technical diagrams, documents and drawings (Test Plans, Test Reports, Analyses, Engineering Drawings, etc.).
- 2+ years of experience with Root Cause analysis.
- Ability to obtain a government-issued Secret level clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- BSEE/CompE + 8 years experience
- 2+ years of experience designing Electronic Safety and Arming Devices (ESADs) and Ignition Safety Devices IAW MIL-STD-1316 and MIL-STD-1901A.
- 2+ years of experience presenting ESAD/ESAF/ISD designs to Safety Review Boards (AFSRB, FISTRP, NNMSB).
- 2+ years of experience interfacing to and testing energetic materials (EFDIs, LEEFIs, Lead Charges, Boosters).
- 2+ years of design for extreme environments (Vibration, Shock, Temperature, Temperature & Humidity).
- Team Player with excellent communication skills to work effectively across different engineering disciplines.
- 3+ years of experience leading a large scale technical project from start to completion with minimal guidance.
