Job Description:
As a Scientist Electrical Engineer at L3Harris you will be responsible for architecture, design, development, modification, evaluation, and integration of next generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices utilizing the latest state of the art technologies.
The ideal candidate should be a subject matter expert in hardware design (analog/digital), capable of collaborating with engineering technical experts, business development, and senior management. They will address customer and mission needs through technical analysis, presentations, white papers, proposals, and strategic guidance, while demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
- Analog and digital design of ruggedized electronics for ordnance applications.
- Circuit tolerance analyses using hand calculations and Spice tools.
- Lead and direct test activities in all phases of product development cycle.
- Lead failure investigations using structured tools (8D, Fishbone, Cause & Effect, etc.).
- Generate material for and lead design reviews for all phases of the product development cycle.
- Act as primary technical interface to internal and external customers.
- Provide inputs (material and labor estimates, technical approaches) for Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Generate & approve Engineering Orders (EOs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Mentor electrical engineering staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- 12+ years of experience designing with basic analog building blocks including differential amplifiers, op amps, LDOs, filters, and data converters.
- 12+ years of experience designing with basic digital building blocks including logic gates, flip flops, timers, and filters.
- 12+ years of experience with module design including component selection, circuit analysis, circuit design, and layout.
- BSEE/CompE + 12 years experience.
- Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 10+ Years designing Electronic Safety and Arming Devices (ESADs) and Ignition Safety Devices IAW MIL-STD-1316 and MIL-STD-1901A.
- 10+ years of experience presenting ESAD/ESAF/ISD designs to the Safety Review Boards (AFSRB, FISTRP, NNMSB).
- 10+ years of experience energetic materials interfacing/testing (EFDIs, LEEFIs, Lead Charges, Boosters).
- 8+ years of design for extreme environments (Vibration, Shock, Temperature, Temperature & Humidity).
- BSEE/CompE + 18 years experience.
