Job Description:
As a Program Quality Technician at L3Harris, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products and hardware built meet the established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance to protect the customer This includes ensuring/verifying the quality of product and all required customer and internal requirements. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can consistently apply objective criteria to the inspection process and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and processes.
Essential Functions:
- Fostering a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is cooperative and collaborative to internal, customer, and supplier personnel at all levels of their various organizations. Ensure a safe, secure, respectful, and high-integrity work environment.
- Through proficient use of measurement gages and inspection techniques, sets-up and performs inspections of components and assemblies to determine precise conformance to specifications, tolerances and workmanship standards.
- As necessary, perform first article inspections and complete first article inspection documentation.
- Witness product testing and participate in failure analyses to resolve discrepancies.
- Review technical drawings, contractual requirements, technical data packaging (TDP's), gage cards, key product/process characteristics, sampling plans, descriptions of manufacturing (DOM's), supplier control plans, supplier test and inspection plans, and bills of material (BOM's) to develop inspection plans for both components and assemblies and provide training to inspectors as required.
- Use quality analysis techniques (statistical analysis, problem solving, process mapping, SPC, Root Cause and CAPA process, etc.) to monitor suppliers and production. Identify potential product quality concerns and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare contract line items (Quality Assurance Plans, First Article Inspection Reports, Quality Assessment Reports, etc.) submitted to Government/customer, as assigned.
- Prepare Certifications of Conformance (C of C) and other required documentation for materials and services delivered to Government/customer. Review shipping documentation, to ensure quality requirements are complied with. Review waivers and deviation as required.
- Interface with and support Government/customer during source inspections, product testing, and/or special inspection or test equipment reviews.
- Participate in and/or chair the Material Review Board to make determination regarding part dispositions. Document and analyze nonconformance details to determine root cause and corrective action.
- Support and/or champion formal Corrective Action Record/Requests initiated internally and issued by the Government/customer. Support the corrective action team as the CAPA process subject matter expert.
- Participate in department and program continuous improvement activities.

Body of Knowledge:
The Quality Technician C shall be proficient in the use of:
- AS9100, ISO9001, or other Quality/Business Management Systems (QMS/BMS)
- Auditing of Quality/Business Management Systems and manufacturing/inspection/test processes
- PPAP/APQP/MRL, process flow diagram, design/process FMEA, control plan, measurement system analysis (MSA)
- Design and Analysis of Experiments
- Data collection and analysis methodologies
- Use of probability & statistics to evaluate, understand, and form conclusions
- Process/Performance capability and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Acceptance Sampling (sampling concepts, sampling standards & plans, sampling integrity)
- GD&T and mechanical design principles
- Lean Tools (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, Visual Control, Waste, Standardized Work, Takt Time, Single Minute Exchange of Die)
- Quality Control Tools (flow charts, pareto charts, cause & effect diagrams, control charts, check sheets, scatter diagrams, histograms)
- Metrology/Testing (Measurement System Analysis (MSA), dimensional inspection, electronic inspection, destructive & non-destructive testing)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of Four (4) years’ experience of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automated electronic assembly and manufacturing methods (stamping, casting, assembly, etc.).
- Knowledge in industry standards (ISO 9000, ANSI J-STD-001, etc.) is desired.
- Experience in engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies and gaging.
