Job Description:

This position supports strategic programs essential to maintaining U.S. Armed Forces’ readiness.  The successful Manufacturing Engineering Technician will contribute as a member of a project team with responsibility for providing production support and troubleshooting to keep production assembly equipment running efficiently.  Manufacturing Engineering Technicians also support production through operator training and process issue resolution.  This position will support company efforts to improve safety, quality, performance, and cost.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing methods and tools for fabricating precise mechanical and electronic components.
  • Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot manual and automated assembly, inspection, and test equipment. 
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve yield issues and improve efficiency.
  • Train production personnel in new or existing operations.
  • Set-up and validate new production workstations.
  • Implement corrective actions involving designs, materials, and processes.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Deliver manufacturing engineering support to production teams.
  • Mentor other manufacturing technicians.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Prior experience working with a variety of hand, power, and test tools.
  • Prior experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Mechanical Processes: Pressing, staking, riveting, swaging, potting, ink stamping, packaging.
  • Electronics Processes: Soldering, conformal coating, X-ray inspection.
  • Inspection Processes: Comparator, Drop Indicator, Micrometer, Calipers, Microscope.
  • Advanced Techniques: Laser welding, robotics, control systems, aqueous / ultrasonic wash.
  • Sensors & Automation: Vision, laser, photoelectric, LVDT, fiberoptic sensors; PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Technical Standards: ANSI J-STD-001, AS9100, ANSI Y14.5.
  • Software Tools: Solid Edge, Minitab, MP2.
  • Industry Experience: Defense or aerospace manufacturing
