Job Description:

 Responsible for performing inspections, tests and/or audits of parts, units, materials, all levels of assemblies as needed with regards to quality control specifications. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units for in process or final assemblies. Inspects and maintains support documentation and verifies requirements when a nonconformance is identified. Reviews and reports performance data. Ensures in-process and finished products meet quality requirements. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection. May interface with program quality or supplier quality teams. Acts independently to support peer training with methods and procedures on new assignments.

This role serves as the Lead Inspector for floor inspection directs the daily activities of 10-12 employees.  Expected to help identify when additional support is needed related to quality inspection.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively communicate with all employees in a professional manner.
  • Maintain data charts, cell metric board, and other pertinent quality information.
  • Maintain the production lines inspection needs and work with relevant others to mitigate any risks.
  • Assist in maintaining department compliance with policies, procedures, and standards including training sign off of team personnel.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained for assigned duties, including program cross training and completion of on-the-job training.
  • Work closely with supervisors and quality engineering to develop efficient techniques to maximize throughput.
  • Actively participate and serve as a resource in the resolution of problems and issues related to quality and production.
  • Support and promote Lean Manufacturing efforts including 5S, execution of proper inspection techniques as applicable, and explanation of any nonconformance to the quality teams.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • J-STD-001 Solder Certified.
  • 2 years Previous experience training others.
  • 8 years relative experience to manufacturing.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to read part prints.
  • Familiar with DCS.
  • Previous experience training others.
  • Prior use of advanced inspection techniques and methods.
