Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Sr. Specialist Configuration Management to join our team. This is a critical engineering support role responsible for performing configuration management (CM) functions to ensure product performance, functional, and physical attributes are consistent with requirements, design, and operational information. The primary goal of this role is to maintain the integrity of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts, baselines, records, and associated configuration information using established configuration processes and controls. This role also provides support to various engineering and program management teams as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the implementation of advanced configuration management documentation, processes, and principles in an Agile development environment.
- Oversee and enhance existing configuration management toolsets, including Agile Product Data Management (PDM), Team Center, Rational ClearQuest, Windchill, and JIRA.
- Chair the Configuration Change Board (CCB) process, ensuring detailed analysis and approval of complex product design changes for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Direct and manage the organization, review, and authorization of the release of drawings and documentation as specified by Program or Engineering Management.
- Provide expert advice and strategic guidance on configuration management methods, tools, procedures, and requirements to senior project team members and stakeholders.
- Act as a senior liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve high-level issues regarding configuration processes, records, and integration challenges.
- Lead and support program audits, including functional and physical configuration audits, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active SECRET clearance required.
- Advanced technical knowledge of job area typically obtained through extensive experience in critical engineering support roles such as senior configuration manager (CM), quality assurance lead (QA/QE/QC), design drafter, technical writer, senior program operations analyst, systems support engineer, integration and test engineer, specialty engineer, or similar.
- Extensive experience using and administrating version control tools such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Agile PDM, Team Center, SolidWorks, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage significant projects or initiatives in an engineering environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or outside of normal business hours as needed to meet critical deadlines and business requirements.
- Requires advanced practical knowledge of job area. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience is required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio), with specific skills including the ability to create and edit documents, generate and apply templates, generate and apply macros, edit and use styles, apply stamps, and apply other advanced formatting functions within these tools.
- In-depth knowledge of EIA-649C, MIL-STD-973, and other relevant Configuration Management standards.
- Advanced Configuration Management certifications such as CMPIC or NDIA.
- Experience leading teams in a fast-paced continuous change/agile engineering environment.
- Highly proficient in reading and interpreting Statements of Work, Drawings, Schematics, and Parts Lists.
- Experience implementing and driving continuous process improvement techniques such as Lean Six Sigma.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $86,500 - $160,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
