Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to join the ARDE Inc. Carlstadt, NJ site, which is a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies’ Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment.
ARDE is a leader in designing and manufacturing high-pressure Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels and Propellant Tanks, with expertise in structural/dynamics analysis, fracture mechanics, and Material and Process Engineering, serving both domestic and international customers.
The Q&MA team ensures delivered products conform to contractual and L3Harris requirements for product quality throughout the engine assembly, test, and post-delivery support. They ensure adherence to and compliance with established quality policies, practices, and government regulations. This includes implementation and leadership of strategies that will directly impact the successful zero-defect, on-time delivery of products.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership, direction and support across multiple Quality Assurance teams (Quality Engineering, Product Acceptance / Inspection, Product Configuration Documentation, and Quality Management System compliance)
- Actively lead by example and support a strong safety culture ensuring employees are protected, engaged, and productive
- Guide teams to resolve technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution
- Promote a strong culture of quality focused on the engagement of every employee, with adherence to personal stamp warranty, workmanship fundamentals, and attention to detail in the prevention of defects
- Collaborate with site leadership peers within program management and other functional process teams. Collaborate with Q&MA functional peers at other L3Harris sites
- Develop and implement team & site-wide tactical quality improvement initiatives promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures, customer requirements and government standards.
- Champion, lead, and support the execution of flow-down strategic initiatives
- Measure, monitor, and take action to ensure quality-focused key performance indicator targets are achieved or exceeded
- Report to senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business execution and status of strategic initiatives.
- Lead site to maintain certification and compliance efforts for AS9100 and other required certifications.
- Along with manufacturing operations, co-chair the site Corrective Action Board to oversee rigorous root cause analysis, application of lean/six sigma methods and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure product quality technology is an integral part of engineering design and manufacturing processes
- Execute annual departmental budget and staffing plans
- Identify needed capital investment to support business need (including quality process capacity, capabilities, & technologies)
- Requires up to 5% business travel within the continental U.S.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior Quality experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of Quality related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of Quality related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business area or functional teams.
- Broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization’s business practices.
- 3 or more years of experience directly managing a Quality Engineering or Quality Organization
- 3 or more years managing site certification with AS9100, ISO 9001
- Quality Engineering or Management experience in Aerospace and Defense or closely related industry.
- Direct experience with assembly, test, and inspection processes commonly used to produce aerospace components and sub-assemblies
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
- Experience identifying nonconformance and applying prevention utilizing industry-recognized Root Cause Corrective Analysis tools such, DMAIC, FMEA, 8D, Cause Networks and applying Lean techniques such as Manufacturing Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of New Jersey is $116,500 - $216,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
