Job Description: 

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of systems and project engineers supporting Tactical Data Links (TDL) programs within the Spectrum Superiority sector. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, managing program execution, and ensuring delivery of systems engineering efforts across all TDL initiatives within the sector.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in systems engineering with proven leadership experience managing teams, resources, and complex defense programs.

 

Essential Functions:  

  • Create vision, strategy, and execute against the plan to help build a best-in-class Engineering team  
  • Coordinate Systems Engineering support (personnel, lab resources, tools) required to perform on all programs and product developments within the business area. Closely track engineering demand and ensure the team is right-sized, properly skilled, and equipped.  
  • Hire, attract, retain and grow top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, execution, transparency and collaboration 
  • Provide mentorship and growth opportunities for engineering and management staff within the organization 
  • Direct engineering program technical, schedule, and cost performance for projects with Systems Engineering scope to include proposal reviews and cost approvals, engineering program reviews, and oversight of key technical decisions 
  • Contribute to new business pursuits by growing cross-functional relationships in new business development and across business areas 
  • Technical training of the organization and advancement of technology through industry interaction and continued education of technical staff 
  • Partner and work very closely with the Engineering Leadership team, Business Development and Program Management to ensure strategy alignment, execution of projects and cross-team collaboration to achieve sector objectives 
  • Work closely with Operations to transition new Systems designs to production / manufacturing using established company processes 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and teammate
  • Ability to travel for position: 5-10%  

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. 
  • Active U.S. security clearance  

 

Preferred Additional Skills:  

  • Deep experience in Systems Engineering and prior work experience within the Defense industry  
  • Experience and demonstrated competence in technical leadership (project engineer or other technical lead role) for large complex programs and IRAD efforts  
  • Experience in Systems level development, requirements definition, analysis, integration and risk mitigation for large communications Systems 
  • Strong team player with experience managing highly technical teams
  • Experience navigating matrix organizations to identify key stakeholders and create efficiencies in related efforts 
  • Track record of being highly collaborative with a proven ability to quickly establish trust and credibility among peers and customers 
  • Ability to communicate confidently and concisely to both engineers and executive management
