Job Summary:
The Specialist, Field Service Engineering provides customer-facing technical integration, demonstration, training, and post‑delivery support for the MIDS (JTRS/LVT) product line. This role partners with platform integrators, program management, engineering, and MRO/production teams to install, configure, test, and validate radios on aircraft, ground vehicles, and maritime platforms. The position requires frequent travel, hands‑on work with systems and test equipment, and the ability to translate technical details for customers while maintaining compliance with export, security, and facility access requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead and support on‑site integration of MIDS products onto customer platforms; configure, test, and validate system performance against integration requirements.
- Plan and execute demonstrations (trade shows, customer events) including setup, operation, troubleshooting, and customer briefing.
- Provide customer training (curriculum prep and delivery) on MIDS products, operational employment, and basic troubleshooting.
- Respond to customer RFIs covering hardware/software configuration, ICD interpretation, and integration workflows; maintain clear documentation of responses.
- Conduct internal system testing and validation of software builds and configurations prior to customer delivery.
- Support production and MRO activities (e.g., technical inquiries, NPI handoffs, depot troubleshooting) and maintain accurate equipment/inventory status.
- Maintain and update technical documentation (procedures, test plans, integration notes) and support export review and markings with Global Trade.
- Partner with Program Management and Contracts to align integration schedules, access requirements, and delivery commitments.
- Travel up to 50% to customer facilities and events; comply with site access and safety requirements.
- Maintain proficiency with RF test equipment and basic spectrum analysis for link validation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and access to U.S. Government/customer facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Systems/Network Engineering, or related field with 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in field service, customer integration, or product support for mission systems.
- Ability to meet physical requirements (lifting/positioning per role standards) and travel up to 50%.
- Hands‑on experience with Link 16 / Tactical Data Link systems and radio products (MIDS JTRS, MIDS LVT, STT, BATS‑D).
- Familiarity with ICDs, platform interface integration, basic RF concepts and test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
- Strong documentation skills (procedures, test plans, reports) and experience with export review workflows.
- Experience supporting production/depot and cross‑functional teams across Program Management, Engineering, and Operations.
- Excellent communication skills for customer engagements and training delivery.
