L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and experienced and security-conscious ISSO to join our team in Carlsbad, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Windows environments, with an emphasis on adhering to the Risk Management Framework (RMF). This role requires an active Secret Clearance, and involves maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of classified information systems.
Essential Functions:
- Support classified information-system security activities in accordance with the DCSA DAAG, JSIG, NIST RMF, and applicable program requirements.
- Execute RMF activities throughout the system lifecycle, including security categorization, control implementation, assessment support, authorization maintenance, and continuous monitoring.
- Develop and maintain RMF documentation, including System Security Plans, Security Control Traceability Matrices, Plans of Action and Milestones, Risk Assessment Reports, and supporting authorization artifacts.
- Work with ISSMs, System Administrators, Engineers, and program personnel to document control implementation, collect security evidence, and address identified compliance gaps.
- Perform vulnerability and compliance assessments using Nessus, STIG Viewer, SCAP, and related security tools; document findings and support remediation activities.
- Monitor and track vulnerabilities, security-control deficiencies, and POA&M items through validation and closure.
- Support DCSA assessments, internal reviews, CCRIs, and customer audits by preparing security evidence and verifying the accuracy and completeness of technical artifacts.
- Provide security guidance to program personnel regarding classified-system configurations, system boundaries, enclave segmentation, and laboratory operations.
- Support cybersecurity incident-response activities, including documentation, investigation, containment, recovery, and required reporting.
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness, system-user, and privileged-user training based on organizational and program requirements.
- Monitor cybersecurity threats, regulatory changes, and defense policy updates, and communicate potential impacts to system owners and security leadership.
- Participate in engineering reviews, configuration and change-control boards, and technical planning discussions as the Cyber Intelligence Team representative when assigned.
- Assist with the secure configuration, patching, hardening, and monitoring of Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Windows systems within classified environments.
- Provide guidance and knowledge-sharing to less experienced cybersecurity personnel as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or system security engineering within defense or critical-infrastructure environments. 10 years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active Secret Clearance required; ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance post-hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Risk Management Framework activities for classified information systems, including control implementation, assessment preparation, authorization maintenance, and continuous monitoring.
- Ability to interpret technical security requirements and apply appropriate engineering and operational controls in accordance with DCSA, JSIG, and NIST SP 800-53 guidance.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu and Red Hat, and Windows operating systems within mixed-enclave environments.
- Experience with operating-system hardening, patch management, endpoint security, vulnerability scanning, and configuration-compliance activities.
- Experience using ACAS/Nessus, SCAP, STIG Viewer, or comparable security-assessment and compliance tools.
- Experience documenting, tracking, and validating vulnerability findings and POA&M remediation activities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Program Management, Engineering, Information Technology, and Security personnel to support program milestones and compliance objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate security risks and remediation requirements.
- Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, network segmentation, and system-boundary concepts within DoD or similarly regulated environments.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize security risks and manage multiple assignments within established timelines.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $92,500 - $171,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
