Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced, highly organized, detail oriented Senior Systems Engineering Manager to lead the Tactical Data Link (TDL) Systems Integrations and Test (SI&T) group. The Senior Manager will provide technical direction and oversight to individuals within the group and will have accountability for SI&T efforts across all TDL programs. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring all SI&T activities are staffed and resourced properly to support all TDL programs and projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, the ability to interface with the TDL Engineering Director and Program Managers, work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including Project Engineers, Test Engineers & Technicians to provide an efficient and functional Test and Integration environment.
Essential Functions:
The Senior Manager Systems Engineering duties include but are not limited to:
- Create vision, strategy, and execute against the plan to help build a best-in-class Engineering team.
- Oversee and coordinate SI&T Engineering support within the business area. This includes managing a team of 30-50 test engineers and technicians to ensure all TDL programs have the appropriate staffing and resources to successfully perform and accomplish program goals and milestones.
- Collaboration with Engineering Leadership and Program Management being the primary point of contact for all TDL SI&T activities creating budgets and schedules and ensuring SI&T efforts are on track and being met.
- Attract, hire, retain, and grow top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, creativity, execution, transparency, and collaboration.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and growth opportunities for engineering and management staff within the organization.
- Direct engineering program technical, schedule, and cost performance for projects with SI&T content to include proposal reviews and cost approvals.
- Contribute to new business pursuits by growing cross-functional relationships in new business development and across business areas ensuring strategic alignment.
- Work closely with Operations to transition new hardware designs and acceptance test procedures to production/manufacturing using established company processes.
- The candidate shall have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, strong organizational and leadership skills, and experience interfacing with both the program management and technical teams.
- Ability to travel up to 5-10% of time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 15 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 20 years of prior related experience.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have an active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in systems integration and testing of high-reliability electronic communications products and related test environment and support equipment.
- Extensive experience in systems integration and test with prior work experience within the Defense Industry supporting government and/or DoD customers.
- Experience in managing and directing a team of engineers and technicians with the ability to continually assess current and future workloads and needs to ensure the proper resources, both staffing and equipment, are available to successfully perform contractual obligations.
- Experience with operations, test, maintenance of communications electronics, and familiar with standard electronic test and measurement equipment operations.
- Having a strong sense of responsibility, ownership, accountability, and follow-through, along with a willingness to be a team player, pro-active, and customer oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills, along with the ability to read and understand all applicable work instructions and procedures and perform computer related tasks without assistance.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $153,000-$284,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
