Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced, highly organized, detail oriented Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team of Tactical Data Link (TDL) systems test engineers and technicians. This is a working managerial position requiring the candidate to perform technical tasks on projects approximately 75% of the time and provide technical leadership, direction, and oversight to a 8 to 15 person test team approximately 25% of the time. The candidate and team will have accountability for all aspects of the test efforts across TDL programs.  In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring all test activities are staffed and resourced properly to support TDL programs and projects. The ideal candidate shall have experience working in a functional Integration and Test environment, will have strong hands on technical and leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively with the various Design & Development engineering staff along with other stakeholders, including Project Engineers and Program Managers.

 

Essential Functions:

The Systems Engineering Manager’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge and experience working with electronic communications technologies and a strong hands-on test background working in a lab environment.
  • The ability to oversee and coordinate Integration and Test Engineering support within the business area.  This includes managing a team of 8-15 system test engineers and technicians to ensure all TDL programs have the appropriate staffing and resources to successfully perform and accomplish program goals and milestones.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Leadership and Program Management being the primary point of contact for all test activities, creating budgets and schedules and ensuring the integration and test efforts are on track and being met.
  • Attract, hire, retain, and grow top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, creativity, execution, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and growth opportunities for system test engineers and technicians within the organization.
  • Direct engineering program technical, schedule, and cost performance for projects with integration and test content to include proposal reviews and cost approvals.
  • Work closely with Operations to transition new hardware designs and acceptance test procedures to production/manufacturing using established company processes.
  • The candidate shall have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills, and experience interfacing with both the program management and technical teams.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Required Qualifications (one of the following along with an active Secret Clearance):

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to travel up to 5-10% of time.
  • Experience in systems integration and testing of high-reliability electronic communications products and related test environment and support equipment.
  • Extensive experience in systems integration and test with prior work experience within the Defense Industry supporting government and/or DoD customers.
  • Experience in managing and directing a team of engineers and technicians with the ability to continually assess current and future workloads and needs to insure the proper resources, both staffing and equipment, are available to successfully perform contractual obligations.
  • Experience with operations, test, maintenance of communications electronics, and familiar with standard electronic test and measurement equipment operations.
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility, ownership, accountability, and follow-through, along with a willness to be a team player, pro-active, and customer oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, along with the ability to read and understand all applicable work instructions and procedures and perform computer related tasks without assistance.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $127,500 - $236,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
