Job Description:
The Tactical Data Link Division Chief Engineer sets technical direction for TDL strategy, product roadmaps, architectures, investments, and execution. The role shapes Link 16 and related secure tactical communications products, balancing mission capability, affordability, technical risk, manufacturability, and long-term competitiveness.
The Chief Engineer works with Division and Sector leadership, customers, program teams, and senior technical leaders to translate market and customer needs into differentiated solutions, disciplined engineering plans, high-quality proposals, and strong program execution.
Essential Functions:
- Set technical direction for TDL strategy, roadmaps, architectures, investments, and market-shaping activities.
- Guide Link 16 and secure tactical communications technology decisions across digital communications, RF/waveforms, networking, processing, and systems integration.
- Coordinate senior technical leaders; establish engineering governance, reviews, mentoring, and cross-program collaboration
- -Drive technical accountability from development through production and sustainment, balancing capability, risk, affordability, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Align technical priorities and resource plans with Division, Sector, product, program, and functional leadership.
- Lead technical capture and proposal activities, including solutions, discriminators, risk, affordability, and customer engagement.
- Resolve complex technical issues and communicate strategic technical decisions with executives and customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Technical leadership for complex defense, communications, RF/digital, or mission-system products through development, production, and sustainment.
- Experience defining technical strategy, product roadmaps, architectures, investments, and engineering execution plans.
- Technical breadth in tactical data links, Link 16, secure communications, waveforms, RF/digital subsystems, networking, signal processing, or related systems.
- Experience leading senior technical leaders and establishing effective technical governance, reviews, mentoring, and capability development.
- Ability to translate customer and market needs into technical solutions, capture strategies, and high-quality proposals.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $184,000 -$341,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to
experience and geographic location.
