Job Description:

 

The Model Based Systems Engineer will be expected to work in conjunction with Digital Engineering leadership to execute MBSE strategies in support of enterprise goals.  This position requires knowledge and experience with Systems Engineering applications in product development efforts for advanced propulsion systems. The candidate will be responsible for applying MBSE tools, developing model architectures, supporting program execution, and contributing to cross-functional engineering initiatives. The candidate will also assist in leading MBSE-related training within the systems engineering organization.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Leads and contributes to the development and application of Model Based System Engineering tools and processes to support the full Systems Engineering life cycle. This includes systems, subsystem, and component requirements for rocket propulsion systems. Responsible for derivation, allocation, and documentation of requirements in requirements database and specifications. Coordinates requirements and related specification change management with IPT members. Defines and coordinates requirements verification plans with integrated product team members, plans and manages compliance assessment and certification.

 

  • Provides support of business development efforts to incorporate MBSE content into enterprise proposals ensuring proposed solutions are aligned with customer requirements and assist in the capture of new business.

 

  • Works in conjunction with Systems Engineering leadership to develop, communicate and implement MBSE across Aerojet Rocketdyne ensuring consistent processes are employed to effectively support the enterprise. Provides technical guidance, mentorship and feedback to teams responsible for implementing MBSE products in support of company goals.

 

  • Implements MBSE technical training to expand enterprise capabilities and support organizational goals. 

 

  • Requires up to 10% travel time.

 

  • Ability to obtain a US LEVEL security clearance

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering to include: requirements and functional analysis, risk management, and product development for rocket propulsion systems.

 

  • Experience contributing to cross-functional MBSE initiatives and developing model architecture and artifacts.

 

  • Familiarity of planning, coordinating, implementing, and communicating MBSE objectives and goals to f leadership ensuring successful design, development and integration of Rocket propulsion systems.

 

  • Demonstrated experience implementing, developing and integrating digital tools to include: IBM DOORs, Cameo, Teamwork Cloud.

 

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of contract proposals, basis of estimates, and other artifacts to support the capture of new business.

 

  • Demonstrated experience in the developing MBSE Architectures for DoD and Commercial customers. Experience with DoD ground and air launched systems preferred.

 

  • Strong knowledge of MBSE languages (UML, SysML, and UPDM), frameworks (DoDAF, UAF, Magic Grid, etc..), and methodologies (OOSEM, Harmony-SE, RUP-SE, OPM).

 

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.

 

  • US LEVEL Secret Security Clearance.

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $106,500 - $197,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
