Ths position will work in the in the ATF (Aero Thermal Fluids) group based out of the Canoga Park, CA facility.
The department’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Utilizing a combination of commercial and in-house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to correlate analysis models, review test results, present results at program reviews, and preparing technical documentation.
- Perform analysis related to gas dynamics, heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics, aerothermodynamics, combustion, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, and mechanical elements in support of space and defense programs.
- Perform analytical predictions and simulations of rocket and high speed air-breathing propulsion systems using computer-based math and simulation models, deriving, creating, documenting, managing, planning verification of, and certifying design compliance to requirements and interfaces for development, production and operational environments.
Essential Functions:
- Perform all or a combination of analysis related to heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combustion devices, and rotating machinery of space and defense systems with moderate oversight. Emphasis will be on analysis requiring knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and computational fluid dynamics. Responsible for utilizing a combination of commercial and in-house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to correlate analysis models and review test data.
- Provide technical mentorship and lead knowledge-sharing initiatives for early career engineers
- Produce analysis reports and test reports. Present analysis to both internal and external customers.Support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Work with designers and project engineers by providing analysis support.

- Occasional travel may be required to support off-site testing (<5%).
- Already posess or have the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Extensive knowledge of fundamentals and advanced principles related to thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and combustion
- High proficiency programming in MATLAB / FORTRAN / Python / C++
- High proficiency utilizing ANSYS Workbench / SpaceClaim
- High proficiency utilizing Thermal Desktop and/or SINDA/FLUINT
- High proficiency utilizing CFD++ or similar CFD software
- High proficiency utilizing Cadence Pointwise or similar pre-processing software
- High proficiency utilizing ANSYS Ensight or similar post-processing software
- Moderate experience running Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) probabilistic analysis
- Moderate experience running Micrometeoroid and Orbital Debris (MMOD) analysis
- Moderate experience designing and analyzing Multi-Layer Insulation for space applications
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $100,000 - $185,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $87,000 - $161,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
