Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Specialist Structural Engineer to join our team in our Canoga Park, CA facility. This position requires the selected candidate to have excellent structural dynamic analysis skills that will be applied to the design, development and testing of flight propulsion products. The individual will join a senior staff engaged in development and production activities related to new and existing propulsion technologies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Utilizing a combination of commercial and in-house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to construct analysis models, review test results, present results at program reviews, and prepare technical documentation.
- Perform structural and dynamic analysis to assess integrity under operating and experienced environmental conditions for space and defense propulsion systems.
- Create finite element models and perform analytical simulations of propulsion system components and systems creating, documenting and verifying design compliance to requirements for development, production and operational environments.
- Perform analysis of dynamic data to develop and/or assess vibration and/or shock environments.
Essential Functions:
- Perform structural dynamic analyses utilizing classic hand calculation methods and finite element models. Conduct static and dynamic structural analyses.
- Correlate analysis models and test results.
- Perform high frequency data analysis to develop and/or assess vibration environments.
- Provide assessment of the products ability to satisfy both internal and customer requirements.
- Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews.
- Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience with static and dynamic analysis and testing experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related static and dynamic analysis and testing experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related static and dynamic analysis and testing experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with supporting shaker and/or other component vibration and shock testing.
- Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint is expected).
- Familiarity with coding to automate and improve processes.
- Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as Nastran, FEMAP, ANSYS.
- Secret or TS security clearance.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $102,000 - $189,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
