Job Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne segment of L3Harris, is seeking a skilled Metrology Engineer to join our team at our Canoga Park, CA facility. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in the field of metrology, with a strong background in precision measurement, calibration, and quality assurance. The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement systems and instruments used in our manufacturing and quality control processes.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain metrology processes and systems to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements.
- Perform calibration and validation of measurement instruments and systems and maintain procedures for others to follow.
- Analyze measurement data and provide technical reports and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve measurement-related issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, with knowledge on ISO 17025.
- Maintain detailed records of calibration, validation, and maintenance activities.
- Continuously improve metrology processes and systems through research and implementation of new technologies and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience in precision measurement and/or metrology processes. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related metrology experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related metrology experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO 17025 requirements.
- Certification in metrology or related disciplines (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician).
- Experience operating in a laboratory to ISO 17025 requirements.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to metrology.
- Experience in a manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
- Understanding of measurement principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using metrology software and tools (GAGEtrak).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $76,500 - $142,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
