Job Title: Product & Component Engineering Intern

Job Location: Los Angeles, CA

Job Description:

We are seeking to fill an Intern - Product & Component Engineering role for Summer 2025 at our Los Angeles, CA location.

This posting may represent one or more specific immediate or near-term openings. Those who express an interest may be considered for current and future positions.

Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

Enjoy work/life balance at our Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area) site.  At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover.

Essential Functions

  • After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects.
  • Interns will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company projects.
  • Interns must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.  
  • Projects may focus on aspects of project and component engineering including assisting in the design and development of rocket propulsion hardware and providing technical support to engineers within such areas as combustion devices, turbopumps, small thrusters, valves & actuators, and systems hardware.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience working independently to lead full cycle projects
  • At least 1 year of experience leading teams to achieve results

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $25/hr- $47.50/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
