Job Description:
The Missile Solutions CAD Services team at the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment of L3Harris is currently seeking an experienced highly motivated CAD-PLM subject matter expert that will be responsible for generating product definition and supporting the design engineers at the Canoga Park, CA site.
This leadership role is expected to help define, develop, execute and train the design-engineering workforce on industry and company CAD and PLM practices to ensure high quality on-time product definition. Further expectations of this role will be to work closely with the enterprise CAD Services Standards team to continue to strengthen existing processes and deploy new processes in the area of Model Based Definition. This role requires the ability to work closely with multi-discipline collaboration and cross-functional teams to drive program drawing release milestones. Position requires taking a proactive approach to ensure CAD product definition meets the needs of downstream users and continuous feedback to drive improved quality and efficiency. Effective communication methods are required to ensure success across disciplines at the site and the Aerojet Rocketdyne CAD Service Enterprise Team.
Essential Functions:
- Generate complex CAD models, drawings and calculations to validate design requirements.
- Lead the development and implementation of CAD and PLM standards and practices across the Canoga Park site user base.
- Provide Project leadership for the management of designs requiring tracking assignments, percent complete and drawing release schedules for specific design release packages.
- Verification of Product Definition (Checking) includes models, drawings and PLM attributes and relationships.
- Create, check and maintain design product definition (Models & Drawings) for engineering designs within the Windchill PLM environment. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation of design layouts and/or preliminary conceptual design layouts, as well as outsourced design project leadership.
- Work closely with CAD Services Enterprise Team to establish and maintain CAD/PLM standards and practices. Provide local site MSSL expertise and guidance for CAD-PLM governance and user support.
- Provide CAD/PLM technical guidance to (MSSL) designers and to design support personnel.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of 9 years of related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. Ten (10) years of experience with CAD systems (Creo 10.0 preferred) along with experience using CAD database management and PLM tools (Windchill preferred).
- Expert knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 2018). ASME Certification in GD&T is a plus. Ability to read and interpret product definition and related specifications.
- Experience with Electronic markup tools such as Bluebeam or Acrobat Pro and the ability to work in a digital environment is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Windchill administrator level experience for 5 years
- Advanced Creo modeling and assembly management 9 years
- Demonstrated leadership leading multiple cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Manufacturing team members.
