Job Description:

We are seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join our RS-25 Program Quality & Mission Assurance leadership team. This individual will drive key quality initiatives across the program and multiple sites, collaborating with functional leadership and program management, and working closely with Sr. Managers and Director-level leadership.  Additionally, the individual will perform a number of Quality Engineering (QE) responsibilities in support of program and site activity.

The ideal candidate will have experience with program management and process improvement activities within aerospace manufacturing environment.  EVM and Lean six Sigma experience desired.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Champion, lead, and support the execution of flow-down strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership from all AR sites and program management to drive quality initiatives across the program and supporting sites.
  • Proactively analyzes manufacturing data to identify opportunities and implement process efficiency and quality improvements
  • Independently manages quality projects, including coordination with cross functional team members, to ensure timely project completion.
  • Manage the Zero Defect Plan initiative within program, ensuring robust project charters, accurate capture of cost savings, and execution to schedule.
  • Support the site and Program Corrective Action Board to oversee rigorous root cause analysis, application of lean/six sigma methods, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide leadership and participate in cause and corrective action activities, failure investigations, metrics creation, and quality improvement projects.
  • Help establish annual Program goals, monitor adherence to plans and schedules, mitigate risks, and achieve set milestones

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related quality experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Technical Skills:
      • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO9001, or other quality management systems.
      • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
      • Experienced in investigating technical issues and nonconformance’s to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions, including familiarity with 8D analysis or similar tool
  • Communication Skills:
      • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skill.
  • Self-Starter:
    • Ability to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact with minimal supervision.
  • Deal with multiple tasks and deadlines set by management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced business knowledge, general management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs and systems.
  • Relevant experience supporting the production of high-complexity aerospace products.
  • Experience interfacing with US government agencies and/or aerospace prime customers.
  • CQE and/or CSSBB certification.
  • APQP and/or Zero Defect Planning experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, business analytics software such as Qlik and PowerBI, and tools like Microsoft Visio and Minitab.
  • EVMS experience.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $114,000 - $212,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $99,000 - $184,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
