Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Associate Manger of Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to serve as a 1st shift quality leader for our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Quality Inspection team at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment’s Space Propulsion & Power Systems Sector in Canoga Park, CA. This site is our center of excellence for liquid in-space propulsion, responsible for engine design, fabrication, assembly, and test.
This position is responsible for leading multiple teams of inspectors within the Q&MA Product Acceptance organization which includes assembly, weld, and clean inspection as well as non-destructive inspection and precision measurement. The Q&MA Product Acceptance team ensures delivered products conform to contractual and L3Harris requirements for product quality throughout the production lifecycle. They ensure adherence to and compliance with established quality policies, practices, and government regulations. This includes implementation and leadership of strategies that will directly impact the successful zero-defect, on-time delivery of products.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the NDT inspection team providing support and prioritization on various inspection efforts across Digital Radiography, Film Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, and Liquid Penetrant Inspection.
- Guide team to resolve technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution.
- Promote a strong culture of quality focused on the engagement of every employee, with adherence to personal stamp warranty, workmanship fundamentals, and attention to detail in the prevention of defects all while improving product flow throughout the workshops.
- Collaborate with Factory leadership and program management and other functional process teams.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures, customer requirements and government standards.
- Measure, monitor, and take action to ensure quality-focused key performance indicator targets are achieved or exceeded.
- Partner with Leadership in maintaining certification and compliance efforts for AS9100 and other required certifications.
- Continuously investigate and integrate improved inspection technology in support of engineering design and manufacturing processes
- Support execution of annual departmental budget and staffing plans
- Support identification of needed capital investment to support business need (including quality process capacity, capabilities, & technologies)
- Requires up to 5% business travel within the continental U.S.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related quality experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience directly managing an NDT Quality Inspection Team or Quality Organization in an Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environment.
- Prior LVL 2/3 certification in multiple NDT disciplines
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and/or other quality standards.
- Direct experience with fabrication, assembly, test, and inspection processes commonly used to produce aerospace components and sub-assemblies
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
- Experience working with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and government contracts.
- Fluency with the use/application of Power BI
- Fluency in the use of Excel (Pivot tables and V-lookups)
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $94,000 - $175,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
