Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to support the Programs/Factories in Camden, AR to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer. Industrial Engineers are responsible for Labor Performance Analyses, Process and Value Stream Mapping, Line Balancing, Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layouts, Factory Simulations, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Continuous Improvement, and more. Essential Functions:
- Model factory operations by generating process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show production processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key performance indicators
- Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce undesirable effects, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals
- Influence factory roadmaps and investment strategies by drafting infrastructure improvement and expansion proposals, and planning the integration of new products, technologies, and equipment that create a competitive advantage
- Work with cross-functional teams to execute projects that address obsolescence, improve factory performance, and promote growth
- Support new production contract/new product proposals and new product integration efforts
- Improve factory safety and work cell ergonomics
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- Prior experience working in a Lean environment with demonstrated understanding of Lean principles
- Experience leading a team or project to include demonstrated strong teaming skills to work with multiple levels of stakeholders (floor operators, peers, management, etc.)
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Degree such as Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain Management
- Strong oral and written communication skills to include experience creating and facilitating presentations and writing technical reports
- Experience/Education with factory layout and work cell design/optimization
- Experience/Education with simulation modeling and capacity analysis tools/methods
- Experience/Education with project management
- Experience with CAD Software
- Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action process
- Proficiency in Lean Principles, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints methodologies and tools
- Change management skills – a self-motivated change agent with bias for action and a sense of urgency
- How to influence and lead others working with high-performing cross functional teams and frontline operators and specialists who assemble, test, and deliver our products everyday
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
