Job Description:
The Specialist, Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under general direction, this role is responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, this role will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.

Essential Functions:
- Determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices.
- Support Engineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc. Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk and opportunity, schedule, and cost as needed.
- Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, L3Harris Missile Solutions customers, and other Missile Solutions functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
- Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
- Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Missile Solutions Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings.
- Conceive and plan projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
- May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel.
- May be assigned engineering Cost Account Management (CAM) duties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant engineer experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related engineer experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related engineer experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Knowledge of pertinent codes, rules, and regulations related to areas of engineering assignments.
- Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications.
- Systems Engineering principles in Requirements and Risk & Opportunity management.
- Principles of budget and schedule management for assigned project scope, such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Industry standards and practices.
- Understanding of rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
- Understanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
