Job Description:

 

As a Material Estimator, you will be joining the L3Harris IMS1 pricing team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely material cost estimates to support the IMS1 proposal teams. Your key responsibilities will include analyzing project requirements, building material structures using ProPricer and SAP, costing bill of materials,  and collaborating with various departments to ensure competitive and precise cost estimations. Additionally, you will support management reviews, internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with company policies and Government requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documentation to prepare detailed and accurate material cost estimates.
  • Develop material structures that align with the proposal Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Identify parts that require quotations and analyze Component Bills of Materials (CBOMs) for completeness and accuracy, ensuring timely submission to support proposals.
  • Conduct thorough proposal analysis and provide recommendations to ensure a current, complete, and accurate cost or price volume.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of material costs, suppliers, and historical project data.
  • Ability to work with other functional areas and be able to support and present material estimates to executive level management.
  • Develop a deep understanding of internal cost proposal processes and procedures, as well as external Government contracting regulations (FAR, CAS, and TINA), and mentor co-workers and other functional areas on these practices.
  • Utilize ProPricer, SAP, and Microsoft Office to create meaningful cost models and generate accurate and timely reports.
  • Interface and support both internal and external customers during post-proposal submission audits, fact-findings, and negotiations.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the material estimation process.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Material Estimating, Supply Chain and Government finance/accounting background
  • Experience using ProPricer Pricing Software
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office suite products / Advanced MS excel user
  • Experience using SAP is a plus

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $75K-$139K.  For California, New Jersey, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $86-$160K.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
