Job Description:

 

The Propellant Manufacturing Engineer provides weekend engineering support for mixing and casting rocket motors, focusing on process improvements and performance tracking to ensure quality and timely delivery. This role involves solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems through creative analysis and prior experience to enhance system performance. Working with minimal oversight, the engineer supports all onsite propellant compositions and may eventually supervise weekend subscale operations.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management.
  • Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
  • Works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results.
  • Investigates and determines root causes of problems, develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contributes to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.).Recommend 8-10 bullet points maximum
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant engineer experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineer experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineer experience. 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Computer skills sufficient to generate reports and analyze data using MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Minitab.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Statistical Analysis experience.
  • Understands rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
  • Experience working with Energetics and DOD contracts.
