Job Description:
The Director of Business Operations reports directly to the Integrated Systems and Encryption VP and General Manager and serves as a strategic partner to the leadership team within the L3Harris Maritime Sector, translating leadership priorities into disciplined execution, clear decisions, and measurable business outcomes. This role strengthens alignment across the organization and helps ensure critical actions move from discussion to completion.
This position, located in the L3Harris Camden Waterfront facility, owns business process oversight and transformation initiatives that simplify workflows, drives digital transformation, improve accountability, and strengthen execution across the business. Business Operations establishes management routines, drives follow-through across functions, and ensures leaders have the structure and visibility needed to manage performance effectively.
The role provides SAP IMS1 oversight and management and is responsible for JSP development, including coordinating the cross-functional inputs, reviews, and action plans needed to keep that work current, actionable, and tied to business priorities. The Director of Business Operations partners closely with Finance, Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, HR, and other stakeholders to prepare leadership materials and drive strategic initiatives from planning through execution, including IR&D and Capital Expenditure.
Success in this role requires establishing a strong performance cadence for team key results and balanced scorecard execution, using the monthly business review as the primary accountability and decision-making vehicle. The Chief of Staff leads special projects, supports executive communications, tracks high-visibility actions, and performs other chief of staff duties required to keep the organization aligned and executing against its commitments.
Essential Functions:
· Lead business process ownership and transformation efforts that improve operating rhythm, clarify accountability, and simplify execution across the business.
· Provide SAP IMS1 oversight and management, including issue resolution, reporting discipline, and alignment of system use to leadership requirements.
· Lead Joint Strategic Planning (JSP) development, coordinate cross-functional contributions, and maintain an actionable plan that supports business objectives.
· Establish, monitor, and improve team key results and balanced scorecard measures to drive consistent performance management.
· Use the monthly business review as the main review and accountability vehicle for tracking progress, surfacing risks, and driving follow-through.
· Lead strategic projects and executive initiatives that require cross-functional coordination, structured follow-up, and timely decision support.
· Support leadership communications, meeting cadences, decision capture, action tracking, and other chief of staff responsibilities needed to keep the organization aligned and executing.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field and 15+ years of progressive experience in business operations, program and finance management, strategy execution, executive operations, or chief of staff responsibilities. Or Graduate Degree with 13+ years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
· 10-15 years’ experience leading business process ownership and transformation initiatives across cross-functional organizations.
· 10-15 years’ hands-on ERP experience, with the ability to provide effective IMS1 oversight, management, and issue resolution.
· Experience developing and coordinating executive plans, roadmaps, or JSP-related deliverables.
· Minimum of 10 years’ experience and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Proven ability to build and govern operating rhythms, action tracking, and leadership follow-through in a matrixed environment.
· Strong executive communication skills, including preparing briefings, leadership materials, and decision-quality updates.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and disciplined follow-through.
· Ability to manage multiple strategic projects at once and drive closure on high-visibility actions.
· Demonstrated leadership presence, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Master’s degree in business or a related field.
· Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or another complex operational environment.
· PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar project management or process improvement certification.
