Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) department in Camden, AR. The selected candidate will lead experienced REA professionals and technical leads across multiple production programs, ensuring disciplined non-conformance disposition, strong root cause and corrective action, and consistent technical execution. This leader serves as a key interface across Chief Engineering, Project Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Program Management to deliver cost, schedule, technical, and quality outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Set the vision and execution strategy for the REA department, with clear plans aligned to program and business priorities.
- Lead and develop a team of experienced REA professionals and technical leads across multiple production programs.
- Build and maintain workforce plans, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning to ensure the right technical depth across programs.
- Provide oversight of real-time non-conformance prioritization and disposition decisions (repair, rework, scrap, and use-as-is) to support safe and efficient production flow.
- Drive the REA team to produce high-quality root cause and corrective action (RCCA) execution in close partnership with Quality and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Enable, train or when needed Lead REA participation in Material Review Board (MRB) and other technical governance forums, ensuring timely, data-based, and traceable decisions.
- Partner with Program Management and engineering leadership to balance cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, and customer commitments.
- Implement and improve standard work, metrics, and escalation mechanisms that strengthen consistency, accountability, and execution speed across programs.
- Communicate and influence senior leadership on high-impact technical and operational issues, while maintaining compliance with engineering, safety, and security requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience leading REA, Project Engineering, or similar technical authority teams in defense or aerospace manufacturing.
- Strong background in non-conformance management, MRB process leadership, and RCCA closure.
- Experience coordinating technical decisions across design, quality, manufacturing, integration/test, and program management organizations.
- Solid systems engineering discipline in requirements, risk, and opportunity management.
- Experience with process optimization and yield improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement methods.
- Strong communication skills, including translating complex technical topics into clear recommendations for senior leaders and customers.
