Job Description:

 

The propellant manufacturing engineer provides engineering support for the manufacture of propellant mixing and casting of rocket motors. Implement process improvements and track operations and performance parameters to ensure high quality, on time delivery.  Work consists of making moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area.
  • Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area.
  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures Identifies and addresses changes within own job area.
  • Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results. 
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related engineer experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related engineer experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related engineer experience. 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Computer skills sufficient to generate reports and analyze data using MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Minitab.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Statistical Analysis experience.
  • Understands rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
  • Experience working with Energetics and DOD contracts.
