Job Description:

 

We are seeking a Portfolio Chief Engineer to lead a $100M portfolio of NSA-approved cryptographic products for tactical platform integration. This role will support the S&C5S Cyber Business Chief Engineer as the single point of ownership and accountability for the technical execution of this portfolio, which is one of four portfolios in the Cyber Business. This position requires frequent interactions with senior engineering leaders and cross-functional collaboration with P&L Leaders, necessitating strong communication skills and professional polish. The successful candidate will be an expert and dynamic tactical leader.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Support high-visibility product demonstrations and US DoD Exercises, particularly in austere environments.
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to executing programs to ensure they meet stringent security and performance requirements.
  • Lead critical technical programs and develop innovative solution architectures for new business pursuits.
  • Develop technical, cost, and schedule inputs for proposals.
  • Make Internal Research and Development proposals and execute allocations.
  • Frequently interact with senior engineering leaders and cross-functional collaboration with P&L Leaders.

Qualifications:

 

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Active US DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Special Access: One or more U.S. DoD Special Accesses (SAP) active within the last year.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics or related field
  • Industry Experience: At least 10 years U.S. DoD product engineering development experience
  • Experience with Tactical Aircraft Platforms: Demonstrated program experience with U.S. DoD Tactical Aircraft Platforms, Missions, and Platform Prime Contractors.
  • Portfolio Management: Minimum of three years of successful experience as the technical leader of a $60M+ portfolio of US DoD products (LRUs or similar scale).
  • Engineering Development Leadership: Proven experience in leading (cost, schedule, technical aspects of engineering content) engineering development of at least one successfully NSA-certified cryptographic products.
  • Cryptographic Products Expertise: At least 6 years (with a Bachelor’s Degree) / 5 years (with a Master’s Degree) of engineering development experience with NSA-certified cryptographic products.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, typically US Domestic

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • Engineering Development Leadership: Proven experience in leading (cost, schedule, technical aspects of engineering content) engineering development of at least five successfully NSA-certified cryptographic products is preferred.
  • Cryptographic Products Expertise: At least 12 years (with a Bachelor’s Degree) / 10 years (with a Master’s Degree) of engineering development experience with NSA-certified cryptographic products.
  • Demonstrated successful experience integrating US DoD Products into larger platforms and supporting successful field demonstrations.
  • Demonstrated strength in driving program execution to on-time, on-budget, and technically acceptable outcomes
  • Demonstrated strong and dynamic interpersonal leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in executive communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to insulate subordinates from undue pressures and distracting stresses

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $155,000-$265,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
