Job Description:
This position a bargaining represented position. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint and Coating Specialist to join our team. This position will apply conformal coatings to electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards (PCBs) to protect them from environmental damage. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and familiar with coating materials and application techniques. Will receive on the job training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Will train on how to apply conformal coatings to electronic assemblies and PCBs using various methods such as spraying, brushing, and automated application.
- Inspect and prepare surfaces for coating application, ensuring cleanliness and proper adhesion.
- Operate and maintain coating equipment, including spray booths, curing ovens, and inspection tools.
- Perform quality checks to ensure coatings meet specified thickness, coverage, and adhesion standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve coating defects and issues.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize coating processes and improve product quality.
- Able to obtain IPC-610 and/or J Standard 001 certification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance from the U.S. Government.
- Familiar with coating materials, including acrylics, silicones, urethanes, and epoxies.
- Familiarity with coating application techniques and equipment.
- Experience with spraying, painting, or coating (Nail Technician, House Paint, Body Paint Shop)
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in mechanical assembly, hand soldering, and self-inspection
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot coating issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and documentation.
- IPC-620 certifications
- Experience in high tech electronics environment
- Completion of a certified technical school training
- Proven experience in conformal coating application in an electronics manufacturing environment.
